A Toowoomba WorkCover claim moves through set stages: you report the injury, lodge the claim, wait for a decision, receive weekly payments, and eventually face an impairment assessment. AMK guides Darling Downs workers through each of those stages on a No Win, No Fee basis, and steps in quickly when WorkCover Queensland says no.

What People Are Saying
"I won't trust anyone else other than AMK Compensation Lawyers. They are compassionate, caring and provide a personal, human touch in tough situations. They made sure to provide the best outcome and actually over-achieved and got a better result due to their knowledge and long standing within the industry."
"I truly believe that if it was not for Michael and his team at AMK Compensation Lawyers, I might not be here writing this review today. Michael is an incredibly smart man and has worked as a defence lawyer for the insurers before starting his own firm. He foresaw and knew every tactic they used before they used it. To this day I am still blown away how Michael and AMK Compensation Lawyers got the insurer to a really good settlement when I was backed into a corner. I am forever grateful."
"Thank you to all the team at AMK Compensation Lawyers for all your support. Michael has a ton of knowledge and has led and guided me throughout the whole process. Thank you Michael — your knowledge allowed me to get a good result. Highly recommend."
"Michael Singh was an incredible help during a very difficult recovery. He was patient, kind, and professional, providing a no-nonsense assessment that honestly accounted for both the physical injuries and the mental health toll. It's rare to find a lawyer who handles every single detail personally. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would do it in a heartbeat."
"AMK Compensation Lawyers were very supportive in my matter. The teamwork across the firm was excellent. Their communication was clear at every step and I would be more than happy to work with them again."
"When I had a motor vehicle accident, I was very scared and confused. After I talked to Mr. Michael Singh, I knew I'd be in good hands. From day one the level of communication and guidance was really outstanding. I am eternally grateful to Michael, Michelle and the team for everything they did. Moving forward after the accident feels easy with AMK Compensation Lawyers."

How Do Toowoomba Workers Lodge A WorkCover Claim?
Report the injury to your employer, get a work capacity certificate from your doctor, then lodge with WorkCover Queensland within 6 months of the injury or diagnosis.
Lodging promptly matters even when an injury seems minor at first. Back strains from lifting grain bags or livestock, shoulder injuries from repetitive processing work and knee injuries on building sites often worsen over weeks, and an early claim keeps your options open.
AMK can check your claim form, make sure the injury is described accurately and confirm your employer has been notified. See our WorkCover claims page for how the Queensland scheme works across the state.
What Weekly Payments Can A Toowoomba Worker Receive?
Once a claim is accepted, WorkCover Queensland pays weekly compensation while you cannot work, plus reasonable medical, rehabilitation and travel costs.
Seasonal and shift-based work is common across the Darling Downs, so the way your normal weekly earnings are calculated can make a real difference to what you receive. Check the figure carefully when your first payment arrives.
If your payments are reduced or stopped because WorkCover forms the view that you can return to work, that decision is reviewable. Strong, up-to-date medical evidence is usually what turns it around.
What If WorkCover Rejects Your Toowoomba Claim?
You can ask for a review of the decision, generally within 3 months. Many rejections rest on arguments that better evidence can answer.
Common grounds include claims that the injury happened outside work, that it was a pre-existing condition, or that the claim was lodged late. Each can often be contested with the right medical opinion and witness accounts from the worksite.
AMK prepares the review application, gathers the supporting material and deals with WorkCover Queensland or the self-insured employer for you.
What Happens When You Receive A Notice Of Assessment?
The notice sets out your degree of permanent impairment (DPI) and any statutory lump sum offer. A lump sum is offered when your DPI is assessed at 1% or more.
If your DPI is under 20%, or you have no DPI, you must choose between accepting the lump sum and keeping the right to sue your employer for common law damages. At 20% or more you can take the lump sum and still bring a common law claim. Separate DPIs, such as a physical and a psychiatric assessment, cannot be added together to reach 20%.
Because that choice can be permanent, get advice before you sign anything. You can also defer the decision while you work out which path is better for you.

How long do I have to lodge a WorkCover claim in Toowoomba?
Lodge your claim with WorkCover Queensland within 6 months of the injury or diagnosis. Late claims can sometimes be accepted with a reasonable excuse, but it is far safer to lodge early.
Can I challenge a rejected WorkCover claim from Toowoomba?
Yes. You can apply for a review of the decision, generally within 3 months. AMK prepares the application and the supporting evidence for you.
Do I have to accept the lump sum in my Notice of Assessment?
No. If your DPI is under 20%, accepting the lump sum means giving up a common law claim, so get advice first. You can defer the decision while you consider your options.
